The boundaries of the visible world are not those of representability.
What the naked eye cannot recognise must be explained.
Therein lies the ambivalence of representation and narrative and the challenge for me as an artist.
Let’s take atoms, we can’t see them, we have an image of them in order to be able to talk about them.
Let’s look at a portrait. Any human being could be anything, the face doesn’t give it away.
It is no different with a landscape.
We see, know, sometimes recognise and interpret.
As an artist, I discover, create contexts, design – with pictures, objects, in spaces, on stages or in books.
