The limits of the visible world are not the limits of showing.

What the eye cannot recognise needs to be explained.

Therein lies the ambivalence of representation and narrative and the challenge for me as an artist.

Let’s take atoms, we can’t see them. Yet we do have images of them so we are able to talk about them.

Let’s look at a portrait. Any human being could be anything, the face doesn’t say anything.

It is no different with a landscape.

We see, know, sometimes recognise and interpret.

As an artist, I discover, create contexts, design – by pictures, objects, in spaces, on stages or in books.
