The drops were created within the extensive project about Rudolph Abel, the spy who pretended to be an artist.
The term "drop" had attracted my particular attention. It means 'raindrop', teardrob or 'to let something fall'. The term 'drop' stands for small hiding places that only a few insiders know about. In 2009, I looked for all the known 'drops' from Abel's agent work in New York. What I found were mainly the urban trivialities that have hardly changed in half a century.
I cut 80 photographs of these places as miniature reliefs from which I made frottages.
