YELL
YELL was an annual publication for the GAK – Society for Contemporary Art in Bremen
For this, I had taken up the theory regarding the origin of the Tarzan cry, according to which it is composed of the voice of the actor who played Tarzan, Johnny Weissmuller, the cry of a hyena, the bellow of a camel, the growl of a dog and the plucked G string of a violin. He relates this conglomeration of sounds to the cries of the Bremen Town Musicians: in five digital prints, a donkey, a dog, a cat and a cockerel join the creators of the Tarzan cry. The polyphonic animal sounds find their visual counterpart in superimposed motifs and fields of colour, and are supplemented by an explanatory text on the back of the frame.
