stars’n’stripes
The USA had a controversial reputation as the world's police, in Afghanistan, then in Iraq. My childhood and youth were always shaped by an image of America, in which it was the land of unlimited possibilities and dreams. And now I had the intention to look at it with a certain distance. What does Americanisation actually mean? How attentive is the view of the USA from here, from "old Europe"? The exhibition Stars'n'Stripes is dedicated to this question - individual ways of looking by young artists to visualise a historical, media-mediated and locally experienced image in personal concepts.
